We will be closing permanently after Labor Day 2022

Hello Family and friends of Burrows Farm & Petting zoo,

We've had some life changes and had to make some decisions that were not easy to make.   Our biggest decision is that we are going to close the zoo permanently after Labor Day (September 5th) this year.  It was not an easy decision as it was our every intention to operate the zoo for many years to come but as you read further we will try to explain as best we can as to why.   Also, as of August 1st, we will be going back to just being open on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 AM - 4 PM until Labor Day.

As to the why… well most of you know who have visited us, you see it is mostly a two man show - or I should say a one man and one woman show. We not only operate the zoo the days we are open, we care for the animals seven days a week year round in all kinds of weather. When it is just the two of you, it can become overwhelming especially when on top of running the farm, you both work full time jobs in order to cover the rising costs of supplies, grain, hay and fuel that is required to operate the zoo.  We are not complaining, we are just stating the facts. We chose to do this and we knew it was going to be a lot of work.  But as you get older your body does not always cooperate and the tasks that need to be done get harder and harder.   As the animals are our first priority, we strive to give them the time and care they require in order to maintain a healthy environment so they are happy and are living the best life we can give them.  This summer has been a struggle for us as honestly we just can’t keep up with all that needs to be done.  As the zoo grows, the chore list grows, but it is still just the two of us.  There isn’t enough income coming in to hire outside employees and state guidelines prohibit us having volunteers.  So we are stuck between a rock and a hard place.

We met many nice families in the past year and watched as our followers grew both on our facebook page as well as instagram.  Everyone seems to enjoy what we have created which makes us very sad that we can not sustain it on our own.  As we have spent a great deal of time creating the zoo and habitats, we are hoping to maybe find someone who would be interested in purchasing the petting zoo as a whole business including all props, some structures as well as the animal stock as a package.  That way they can keep this much needed family activity going.   If you are interested, please PM us and we can discuss it further.  All that is required is a few acres of land that can be fenced in, a love of animals and some imagination.  We are not looking to lease our land out so if interested, the zoo would need to be relocated.  If there is no interest in the business as a whole, we will then decide to sell off the critters to forever families of their own.  We are looking for serious inquiries only and are not interested in wholesale deals. If you are interested in any animal in particular, you can contact us to be put on a list.  There will be an application process so that we can make sure the animals are placed into the perfect home.  Again we want to thank everyone who came out to support us and we hope you will spread the word to help us find a new person or family who will want to run a zoo of their own.

We wish you all well and thank you all again for coming out to support us these past two summers.  It has meant more to us than you can imagine.

All the best,
The Burrows Family
